The John Goto Prize – ESMAD, P. PORTO is aimed at higher education students in the visu-al arts (photography, video, cinema, digital arts, multimedia, design, fine arts), with innova-tive approaches that use photography and/or other areas mentioned above, as a means of reflection on contemporaneity.
John Goto’s association with the teaching staff and the students of IPP dates back to 2001. He was supportive of colleagues and their research projects and he was tremendously popular when engaging with groups of students. It is only fitting, therefore, that we remember John Goto, a man described by The Telegraph as ‘a genius’.
The submission period for the John Goto Prize – ESMAD, P. PORTO runs from June 6 to October 14, 2024.
JURY
The John Goto Prize – ESMAD, P. PORTO is aimed at higher education students in the visual arts (photography, video, cinema, digital arts, multimedia, design, plastic arts), with innovative approaches that use photography and/or other areas mentioned above as a means of reflecting on contemporary issues.
The competition foresees the selection of 4 exhibition or installation proposals, individual or collective, by a selection jury composed of recognized artists and researchers.
The exhibitions, which will present the selected works, will be open to the public on a date to be defined, in the exhibition spaces of the P. PORTO universe and public institutions with agreements with ESMAD.
The authors whose proposals are selected will receive a grant for support and production, within the context of the exhibitions, amounting to €1500 (one thousand five hundred euros).
The application period for the John Goto Prize – ESMAD, P. PORTO runs from June 6 to October 14, 2024. Applications are made online through a form created for this purpose. The application is free of charge.
